Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use Idan Oil?
Idan Oil is a coconut oil–based body oil that naturally solidifies in cooler temperatures.
To activate:
- Place the bottle under warm running water for 20–30 seconds.
- Do not fully melt the entire bottle.
- Pour a small amount into your hands and apply to damp skin after bathing.
It can also be used:
- As a hair oil
- As a cuticle oil
- In a warm bath
- As a body glow oil
Tip: Partial melting preserves product longevity and prevents overuse.
Why does Idan Oil arrive solid?
Idan Oil contains natural coconut oil and no stabilisers or chemical softeners. Coconut oil solidifies below ~24°C (75°F). This is a sign of its purity, not a fault. The oil melting and solidifying doesn't affect the integrity of the product.
Can I use Idan Oil on my face?
We do not recommend Idan Oil for facial use, especially for acne-prone skin, as coconut oil is comedogenic.
For facial moisture, we recommend our Shea Butters instead.
How do I use the Gold & Ivory Shea Butters?
Warm a pea-sized amount between your palms until softened.
Apply to:
- Body
- Hands
- Feet
- Elbows
- Stretch marks
- Very dry areas
Both Shea Butters are rich in Vitamins A and E, good for all skin types, and ideal for very dry or textured skin.
Why does my Gold Shea feel grainy?
Shea Butter is a raw, natural ingredient. Temperature fluctuations during transport can cause natural crystallisation.
Simply:
- Warm between hands longer
- Or gently warm the jar slightly
The texture will smooth during application.
What is the difference between Gold and Ivory Shea?
- Gold Shea is from Nigeria and has a naturally smokier scent, deeper colour, and more intense moisture.
- Ivory Shea is from Ghana and can be crumbly in nature, has a softer scent, and a lighter tone.
Both contain only one ingredient: pure shea butter.
Can Shea Butter be used on the face?
Yes. Shea butter is non-comedogenic and safe for facial use. We suggest using it only on dry patches or as a face mask. Shea butter is rich and can make certain skin types break out.
Use a very small amount and warm thoroughly before pressing into skin.
How do I use Ose Gidi Black Soap?
Use on damp skin:
- Lather in hands first.
- Apply to face or body.
- Rinse thoroughly.
Follow with Shea Butter or Idan Oil to restore moisture.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes, you can use it as a gentle exfoliating facial soap, no more than twice a week.
How do I use Oju Omi Mud Cleanser?
As a cleanser:
- Apply to damp skin.
- Massage gently.
- Rinse thoroughly.
As a mask:
- Apply to dry skin.
- Leave for 10 minutes.
- Rinse off.
We recommend starting with 10 minutes.
Please Note: The 50ml Oju Omi Mud Cleanser is from our final production run. Once sold out, it will not return. Travel sizes remain available while stocks last.
How do I use Orinrin Cleansing Balm?
Apply to dry skin:
- Massage gently to dissolve makeup and SPF.
- Add warm water to emulsify.
- Rinse off.
Follow with Mud Cleanser if double cleansing.
Please Note: The full-size Orinrin Cleansing Balm has now been retired. Travel sizes remain available while stocks last and will not be restocked.
How do I use the Queen Idia Candle?
Light the Queen Idia Candle with intention.
On first burn:
- Allow the candle to melt fully to the edges of the jar.
- This usually takes 2–3 hours.
- This prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn throughout its life.
Before each use:
- Trim the wick to approximately 5mm.
- This reduces smoke and maintains a clean flame.
Burn time:
- Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
- Allow wax to fully reset before relighting.
To extinguish:
- Use a snuffer if possible.
- Avoid blowing directly to minimise smoke.
Crafted with coconut wax and essential oils, Queen Idia is designed for slow evenings, grounded rituals, and layered scent experiences.

I opened the product but don't like the scent. Can I return it?
Scent is deeply personal. However, once opened, we are unable to accept returns unless the item is faulty.
If your product remains unused and in sellable condition, we're happy to assist.
My product feels grainy/different in texture. Is it faulty?
Our shea butters are 100% natural and unrefined. Texture may vary slightly between batches due to seasonal changes in the shea nut.
Graininess can occur when natural butters cool and solidify at different rates. This is not a fault.
To restore smoothness:
- Warm gently between palms
- Or allow to soften in a warm environment
If you believe your product is genuinely defective, please contact us at info@lihabeauty.com with photos.
My item arrived damaged. What should I do?
We’re very sorry if your order arrived damaged. Please email us at info@lihabeauty.com within 48 hours of delivery with:

Are LIHA Beauty products pregnancy safe?
Our formulations are made with natural, minimal ingredients and are generally considered safe for use during pregnancy.
However, as every pregnancy is different, we always recommend consulting your healthcare professional before introducing new skincare products during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
For added clarity:
- Our Shea Butters are single-ingredient and vitamin-rich.
- Idan Oil contains coconut oil and natural essential oil components.
If you have specific sensitivities, we recommend patch testing first.
Do your products contain synthetic fragrance?
No. We do not use synthetic fragrance in our products.
Any fragrance components listed (such as limonene, linalool, benzyl benzoate, etc.) are naturally occurring compounds found within essential oils.
Our candles are also made using essential oils only and are produced in small batches.
Why has my Idan Oil arrived solid or cloudy?
Idan Oil is coconut oil-based. Coconut oil naturally solidifies below approximately 24°C.
Because we do not add stabilisers or synthetic ingredients to prevent this, the oil may arrive solid or semi-solid in cooler climates.
To use: Place the bottle under warm running water for about 30 seconds to partially melt the oil. You do not need to melt the entire bottle each time.
This is a natural characteristic of pure coconut oil and not a defect.
Why does my Shea Butter feel grainy?
Shea butter is a completely natural product, and texture may vary slightly between batches depending on:
- Temperature changes
- Cooling conditions
- The natural composition of the nut harvest
If your shea feels grainy, warm a small amount between your palms for several seconds. The texture will melt into a smooth oil on contact with the skin.
This does not affect quality or efficacy.
Why does the colour of my Shea Butter vary?
Our shea butter is unrefined and natural. Because it is derived directly from the shea nut, colour may vary between:
- Soft beige
- Warm yellow
- Pistachio-toned gold
This variation is natural and reflects seasonal harvest differences. It does not indicate a quality issue.
Are your products suitable for the face?
Shea Butter (Gold & Ivory): Yes. Shea butter is non-comedogenic and suitable for facial use, even on dry or sensitive skin.
Idan Oil: We recommend avoiding use on the face if you are prone to congestion, as coconut oil is comedogenic for some skin types.
Ose Gidi Soap: Can be used on the face, but is a traditional black soap and may be strong for very dry or sensitive skin.
Oju Omi Mud Cleanser: Formulated for facial use.
Can your products help with eczema, psoriasis or rosacea?
While our products are not medical treatments, many customers with dry, sensitive or compromised skin have reported that our Shea Butters in particular feel soothing and nourishing.
Because every skin condition is unique, we recommend:
- Patch testing first
- Consulting your healthcare professional if managing a diagnosed condition
What is the shelf life of your products?
Shea Butter: 24 months unopened, 12 months after opening
Idan Oil: 24 months unopened, 12 months after opening
Ose Gidi Soap: 12 months
Orinrin Cleansing Balm: 24 months unopened, 6 months after opening
Last production: November 1, 2024
Oju Omi Mud Cleanser: 24 months unopened, 6 months after opening

Have any products been discontinued?
We are currently evolving our product offering.
Orinrin Cleansing Balm (50ml full size) has been discontinued and will not be restocked.
Travel size Orinrin Cleansing Balm remains available while stocks last.
Oju Omi Mud Cleanser (50ml) remains available while current stock lasts but will not be reproduced once sold out.
Travel size Mud Cleanser remains available while stocks last.
Do you recommend patch testing?
Yes. Although our products are made with natural ingredients, we strongly recommend performing a patch test before first use.
Apply a small amount to the inside of your wrist or elbow and wait 24 hours before full application.
If irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional.
Are your products vegan and cruelty free?
Our formulations do not contain animal-derived ingredients. We do not test on animals.
Why don't you use synthetic stabilisers?
We intentionally avoid synthetic fillers, stabilisers and artificial fragrance.
This means our products may:
- Solidify in cooler temperatures
- Vary slightly in colour or texture
- Carry a stronger natural scent profile
These characteristics reflect their purity.
Are LIHA Beauty products sustainably made?
We produce our products in small batches to ensure freshness, reduce waste, and maintain quality control.
Our approach is intentional rather than mass-produced. We believe in making what is needed, not overproducing.
Where are your ingredients sourced?
Our ingredients are sourced globally, with a strong focus on high-quality natural raw materials.
Our shea butter is unrefined and minimally processed to preserve its natural vitamins and integrity. Our Gold Shea is sourced from Nigeria, and our Ivory Shea is sourced from Ghana. The remainder of our products are formulated and manufactured in the UK.
We prioritise suppliers who share our standards for quality, safety and responsible sourcing.
Is your shea butter ethically sourced?
Yes. Our shea butter is sourced through responsible supply partners who support fair trade practices and local production communities.
Because we do not over-process our shea, it remains true to its original botanical integrity.
Why do some products sell out frequently?
We produce in small, controlled batches to maintain quality.
When a batch sells out, we wait for the next intentional production cycle rather than rushing restocks.
This ensures:
- Ingredient integrity
- Fresh production
- No unnecessary excess stock
Why have you discontinued some products?
As a growing brand, we periodically refine our offering.
We recently made the intentional decision to move away from facial skincare and focus on body rituals and oils.
This allows us to:
- Simplify production
- Improve supply reliability
- Focus on our core strengths
- Reduce operational waste
Remaining stock of discontinued items will not be reproduced once sold out.
Do you test on animals?
No. We do not test on animals and do not commission third-party animal testing.
Are your products vegan?
Our formulations do not contain animal-derived ingredients.
What is your packaging approach?
We use:
- Recyclable glass jars
- Reusable containers
- Minimal outer packaging where possible
We are continuously reviewing our packaging as we evolve the brand.
Where bundle contents change (for example, travel bags), pricing is adjusted accordingly.
Do you accept empty jar returns?
At this time, we do not operate a jar return programme.
We encourage customers to:
- Recycle glass responsibly
- Reuse jars for storage or travel
We are always exploring future sustainability initiatives as we grow.
Why don't you mass manufacture your candles?
Our candles are handmade in small batches using coconut wax and essential oils.
We do not use synthetic fragrance or large-scale automated production.
This means:
- Production capacity is limited
- Scent profiles are natural and may vary slightly
- Quality control remains high
How are your fragrances created?
We use essential oils only.
Any naturally occurring fragrance compounds listed on packaging (such as limonene, linalool, geraniol, etc.) are components of essential oils and are required to be declared for regulatory transparency.
We do not use synthetic fragrance blends.
What is your brand philosophy?
LIHA Beauty is rooted in ritual, botanical simplicity, and intentional luxury.
We believe in:
- Fewer, better products
- Clean, minimal ingredients
- Slow beauty over excess
- Cultural storytelling through botanicals
- Deliberate production, not trend-driven launches
We grow intentionally.
