As we all hold our collective breath for an Indian summer and hope for a few more days of sunshine, it’s a great time to slow down and look back on the highs and lows of summer.
What made you smile widest? What did you learn about yourself? What steps can you take to ensure the last four months of 2024 are as close to your dreams and purpose as they can be?
As the nights draw in and we all become a little more reflective, allow your self-talk to soften. Know that you are always worthy and be easy on yourself. Reflect on your growth as you would a flower or tree – we do not question the how or why of its growth and blooming, we just allow ourselves to be in awe.
Here is some of our favourite things to do in transition season:
SEEING: Tavers Strachan — There is Light Somewhere- Hayward Gallery until Sep 1st James Baldwin wrote: ‘It is necessary, while in darkness, to know that there is a light somewhere’. Tavares Strachan: There Is Light Somewhere delivers that assurance. Art like this is the highest form of hope, and inspires us to move towards that light inside in order to share it with all those around us.
LISTENING: Laraaji — All of a sudden. Do yourself a favour and do a deep dive into a pioneer of ambient music whose influence extends to Brian Eno and Andre 3000 among others. Visiting London as part of Pitchfork festival in November -we have our tickets already!
READING: Mauve — How one man invented a colour that changed the world- Simon Garfield A fascinating non-fiction read that dives into how an accidental discovery whilst working on a Malaria cure had an unprecedented effect on the entire world and the development of perfume, photography and modern medicine.
EATING: ASSA 23 Romilly St, London W1D 5AQ An actual hidden gem in central London — affordable Korean food and hotpot in a lovely setting with an extensive flavoured beer menu perfect. Comfort food and mood lighting. What more could you need in September?
