PERFECTLY TRASHY BEACH READS FOR YOUR BREAK
There is something to be said for airport paperbacks at this time of year.
This is the time of year that we allow ourselves to be less highbrow in our literature taste and indulge in a good old page turner with some blatant escapism to add to the relaxation.
Abi and I will be busy working through August, (it’s the perfect time to plan for our busy season) but for those of you that are lucky enough to be putting your feet up on a sandy beach somewhere, here are our recommends for something to spill your cocktail on before you take a nap:
LACE by Shirley Conran To quote the books blurb - Kitschy and hilarious and a wonderful throwback to the power dressing world of 80s New York, the twists and turns will keep you engrossed, and its hefty enough to see you through a 14 day break. |
VALLEY OF THE DOLLS by Jacqueline Susan Three women become best friends when they are young and struggling and then climb to the top of the entertainment industry-only to find that there is no place left to go but down-into the Valley of the Dolls. A fascinating cult classic that has stood the test of time that delves into Hollywoods seedy underbelly. |
SEX AND THE CITY by Candace Bushell
Much like Breakfast at Tiffanys by Truman Capote, the original book is a million miles away from the screen adaptation. Both are much more gritty and realistic than the movie versions-No spoilers but we prefer this ending. |
Nearly All The Men In Lagos Are Mad by Damilare Kuku A series of short stories and yes, the book is as the title suggest! I gasped and laughed throughout, It's a complete page turner. I'm quite sure all the stories are based on true life events, from the ridiculous to the farfetched, it can truly only happen in Lagos! |
DON’T FORGET YOUR DISCOVERY SET TO BRING A BIT OF LIHA LUXURY TO YOUR VACAY!
