ORIGINS

Our Nigerian Gold Shea comes from Abi’s dad’s town and is waxy in texture. With a little more moisturising power than the Ivory, this is a favourite among our customers who suffer from eczema. The natural fragrance is more earthy and has notes of clean soil.

We use top quality, ethically sourced Ghanaian, and Nigerian Shea butter.

BENEFITS

Shea Butter is known for its high content of fatty acids and its naturally occurring content of Vitamins A and E. It is known to have anti-inflammatory and healing properties - Shea butter soaks into your skin, creating a smooth and soft barrier that seals in moisture, This moisturizing effect can last several hours.

Traditionally used as a “cure-all” balm, with women in Africa using it on everything from stretch marks and scars to babies' bums. An excellent natural alternative to petroleum jelly. rich tree-nut oils in shea butter can soak into your skin, creating a smooth and soft barrier that seals in moisture, this moisturising effect can last several hours.

SENSITIVITIES

Psoriasis: Psoriasis sufferers are advised to patch test before use as Shea butter encourages the regeneration of skin cells. People with psoriasis have an increased production of skin cells resulting in the build-up which is what is associated with psoriasis.

Shea butter contains natural latex, although reactions to Shea butter are quite rare please be aware of possible allergic reaction.

Eczema: We have had a number of rave reviews from customers who have told us that Shea butter has helped massively with their skin condition.

‘When applied topically, Shea butter can increase moisture retention by acting as a protective layer over your skin and preventing water loss on the first layer, as well as penetrating to enrich the other layers.’

Thus Shea butter is known to relieve the itchy, dryness and inflamed skin associated with eczema.

FAQ

What the difference between your Gold and Ivory Shea?
At LIHA we offer two types of vegan Shea butter: ivory and gold. The difference in colour is merely attributed to the region in which the shea butter was extracted and can also be based on the season and production methods. The same amazing skin health properties remain, regardless of the colour, however, depending on your personal usage of the butters you may prefer one over the other. Both are rich in Vitamins A and E and work wonders for multipurpose moisture.

Ivory shea butter is from Ghana and can be crumbly in texture. It has a nutty vanilla scent... it's perfect butter for keeping small areas such as the lips, hands and feet moisturised on the go.

Gold Shea butter is from Nigeria and has a more smoky, earthy smell remnant from the roasting process of the Shea fruit and waxy in texture. It can be seamlessly smoothed into larger areas of the body as well as being the quintessential weapon against dry, flaky and itchy scalps.

What is Shea butter?
It’s a multi-purpose Vegan moisturiser made from a single ingredient that can be use from head to toe.

Why not try this very simple recipe for a multipurpose moisturiser?
1 heaped tablespoon Shea butter – mash with back of spoon until smooth

2 heaped tablespoons Kitchen oil of choice ( coconut, hemp or olive) -add in mix with spoon and then whisk until light and fluffy ( around 10 mins)

Add 6-9 drops of your essential oil of choice ( or 3 drops of 3 mixed together) holding at eye level to control flow. Fold in with a spoon, decant into a glass jar and leave to cure in a cool dark place for up to a week.

Very moisturising and great consistency

Purchased both the Gold and Ivory Shea Butter and was very impressed with them. I was looking for organic unrefined Shea that had no additives or refinement at all. I think this fits the bill. The consistency was a bit softer than that of those I purchased last year but perhaps this is due to natural variety as the product is still somewhat "grainy" which I take as a good sign of it being unrefined. The grains blend out with no problems. Would recommend this product as the company seems to care more about it's quality and organic promises compared to others selling this on the market.

Obsessed

I’m a chef, and my hands really struggle through the winter. Since discovering the gold shea butter, my soft hands are back. This is the FIRST and only product that works for me, smells gorgeous, isn’t so heavy and just love the brand. I’ve been buying it for all my friends. Highly recommend!!

Perfect for face

I use the Gold as a moisturiser on my skin and I love it. Warms up in your hand, not crumbly and just super smooth. I know it’s gonna last a while too. I’ll definitely be returning when I finish and also looking at other products too :)

Poor packaging

I typically buy Liha gold (which I love and believe has just about cured my eczema) through matchesfashion.com but this time I bought it directly. When it arrived, 4 of the tops were off the jars. One top was broken and the bits of black plastic were stuck in the butter. I had to scrape that out. There was not nearly enough padding/packaging within the box to prevent this breakage and clearly, Liha doesn’t believe in screwing the tops fully on to the jars as four were unattached. I kept the broken top jar for myself as I obviously can’t give it as a gift as I intended. It sits on my vanity with cellophane and a rubber band for its top. I’m very very disappointed.

The best Shea around !

The Liha gold Shea is the best Shea butter I’ve ever bought. It smells nutty and hearty and when you massage it into your skin it feels like it’s doing good instantly. It’s become part of my every day routine and helps me love my body and my self.
