The Cork oak is unique in that cork can be harvested without cutting down or harming the tree itself. The bark is carefully removed by highly skilled workers, the tree is then marked and left untouched for nine years allowing it time to fully regrow the cork.
As cork is completely biodegradable, it can be returned back into the soil after use, leaving no toxic residue at all… isn’t that amazing?
